The sport utility vehicle is well-known and desired for its ability to seamlessly transition between traveling on roads to blazing its own trail off the roads. The 2023 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, January 21-29 at WestWorld, saw an unprecedented number of SUVs cross the block to meet the high demand for these versatile vehicles. Among the highest-selling SUVs at the Scottsdale Auction were a one-of-one custom 1968 Bronco named “The Clydesdale” that sold for $434,500 and a 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer for $440,000. Lot #1422.1 – 1972 CHEVROLET K5 BLAZER CUSTOM SUV – $440,000
Pictured above, this 1972 K5 Blazer is powered by an LS3 engine rated at 500hp mated to an 4L80E automatic transmission. Equipped with an Atlas transfer case, custom mono-toned interior, custom frame, Mint over white two-tone paint, roll cage and a removable hardtop.

One-of-one custom built by Maxlider Brothers Customs, nicknamed “The Clydesdale.” Top 12 vehicle in the 2019 SEMA Battle of the Builders. Powered by a Roush supercharged Coyote 5.0-liter engine mated to a 6R80 6-speed transmission.

Lot #1340.1 – 1970 FORD BRONCO CUSTOM SUV – $429,000
Nicknamed “Goose;” recipient of full frame-off restoration. Powered by a Gen 3 crate 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission with a dual-range Atlas transfer case. Has 2-inch body lift and 3.5-inch suspension lift.

Frame-off restored and Coyote-powered, with a one-off custom interior and brand-new body.

Nicknamed “Maverick;” recipient of a full frame-off restoration. Powered by a Gen 3 crate 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine mated to 10-speed automatic transmission with a dual-range Atlas transfer case. With a 2-inch body lift and 3.5-inch suspension lift.

Frame-off restored down to every nut and bolt, powered by a fuel-injected all-aluminum 430hp 6.2-liter LS3 new GM crate engine backed by a new ITE 4L60E automatic transmission with Holley Terminator X power management and a Vintage Air conditioning.

Powered by a 2022 Gen 5 LT1 engine mated to a 4L75E automatic transmission. Features Vintage Air, Dakota Digital gauges, power windows, power seats, a hidden fuel door and automatic power running boards.

Serial #1, badge #23MAXRAP001, of a limited-edition run of 150 Maxlider Brothers Customs 2022-23 Raptor Broncos. Powered by a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. 12 actual miles.

Lot #1268 – 1972 CHEVROLET K5 BLAZER CUSTOM SUV – $247,500
Rotisserie-restored, powered by a new GM Performance Connect & Cruise LT1 engine paired to a 4L70E transmission. Billet serpentine system, Vintage Air system, power Wilwood brakes, Dakota Digital gauges, Mickey Thompson wheels and 35-inch tires.

This no-expense-spared custom build is powered by a GM performance LS3 engine mated to a 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission with an NP205 transfer case. Features a Vintage Air system, KMC wheels, CPP Hydro-boost and FOX shocks.
