The Hemi may be king, but Grumpy Jenkins showed Jere Stahl that a high-winding Chevrolet L79 small-block could come out on top. A similar car with the same engine is currently featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com: this restored 1966 Chevrolet Nova powered by the legendary L79 327ci and shifted via a four-speed manual transmission. Features include redline tires, power brakes and a rear-mounted antenna. Refinished in blue over blue vinyl and cloth interior, this Nova is available now and comes from the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, accessories catalog and 1969 Georgia title.

1966 Chevrolet Nova

This 1966 Nova was built at the General Motors plant in Norwood, Ohio in the third week of June 1966. As part of the restoration performed by Fantastic 5 Auto Restoration Services in N.C., the body was refinished in factory-correct Danube Blue (paint E on the data plate). Trim includes rocker panel brightwork, protective side moldings and bumper guards.

Interior features include lap belts front and rear, Delco AM radio and defroster. The trunk contains a secured whitewall spare tire and jack.

The gauge cluster features only a 120-mph speedometer and fuel gauge. The five-digit analog odometer shows 108 miles, but the actual mileage on the chassis is unknown.

L79 327cid V8

The L79 327 was rated at 350 horsepower by the factory. According to the selling dealer, the Turbo-Fire V8 has casting number of 3791362. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a floor-mounted, wide-ratio four-speed manual transmission.
