When General Motors revived the Hummer nameplate, they didn’t take any half-measures. The rugged SUVs and trucks known for their off-road prowess are still as sure-footed on remote trails as any mountain goat, but they are now also the flagship Electric Vehicles of GM’s fleet.
The Interstellar White 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup that will cross the block with No Reserve at the 2022 Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction is a perfect example of how leading-edge technology and pure ornery ruggedness can coexist in one vehicle. GMC is not kidding when they call their new Hummer a “supertruck.” It is powered by a 212-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack and three electric motors. GM estimates the system delivers 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 ft/lbs of torque. That translates to a 0-60time of about 3-seconds and a range estimated up to 350 miles when fully charged.
The off-road technology of the E4WD system is just as impressive. The four-wheel steering system’s CrabWalk mode turns all four wheels up to 10 degrees in the same direction, allowing for diagonal movement for those tricky off-road situations. The Adaptive Air Ride Suspension system’s Extract Mode is capable of raising the truck approximately six-inches. If a trail needs closer examination, the UltraVision camera package includes waterproof front and rear underbody cameras. The 18-inch aluminum wheels are teamed with specially-engineered 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires. Rock Rails are standard equipment on the EV Edition 1 Pickup.
Life isn’t all fun and games on mountain paths or swampy trails, however. For the everyday commute, the Hummer EV pickup is packed with comfort and technology. With Tri-Zone climate control, 12-way power front heated and vented bucket seats, power adjustable steering column and a heated steering wheel, crafting the right environment is easy. Infotainment and navigation functions are accessed through the 13.4-inch color touchscreen, including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Bose premium surround sound system with 14 speakers delivers concert-level audio. This Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup is compatible with GMC’s Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology should the winning bidder wish to subscribe to the Connected Services program.
Whether traveling off-road or through inner city urban canyons, the Infinity Roof with removable transparent sky panels can make any drive memorable. The panels can be stored in the Power eTrunk in the front of the vehicle.
This Hummer pickup is full of technical innovation and luxuries, but truck functions haven’t been neglected. LED lighting for the cargo box, spray-on bedliner and GM’s MultiPro tailgate add ease to its ruggedness. The distinctive LED front lighting is not only handsome but keeps the campsite or worksite well-lit.
The GMC Hummer EV Pickup that will be offered at Las Vegas is a one-owner vehicle with 33 actual miles. The original Window Sticker is included with the sale.
