One of Audi’s many upcoming electric cars will be the Q6 e-tron, a sporty SUV designed to slot between the Q5 and Q7, in terms of size, luxury, and performance. A new report claims that it will also be getting a high-performance variant, too — an Audi RSQ6 e-tron.
According to this new report from Motor.es, a new patent filing was made by Audi for the name “RSQ6”. While patent filings are never exact indicators of future cars, as automakers will often trademark names just to stash them away for potential future use, this one is likely for real.
Audi is likely going to create an Audi Sport “RS” version of all its upcoming electric cars, to keep enthusiasts happy. And considering that the Audi RSQ6 e-tron will likely be a big hit, it only makes sense for it to be one of the first.
Motor.es also has a great render of the potential Audi RSQ6 e-tron, which looks like someone took an A6 e-tron face and slapped it on the standard e-tron. Though, don’t expect that to be the final design. When Audi first showed off the A6 e-tron concept, it wowed Audi fans with its beauty and the Q6 is likely to borrow most of its design language.
If Audi is, in fact, working on an RSQ6 e-tron, it will likely share its power and performance with the inevitable performance variant of the Porsche Macan Electric. The Audi RSQ6 e-tron would share its PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture with the upcoming Macan electric, as well as the A6 e-tron.
No word on battery size just yet, as the Q6 e-tron is still far away, with its eventual reveal likely being sometime in 2024. Although, the Audi A6 e-tron could be revealed by the end of the year, which could give some insight as to what sort of tech lies beneath the Q6 e-tron and the potential Audi RSQ6 e-tron.
