Full pricing for the Audi Q4 e-tron has just been released for the US market and it actually undercuts the Audi Q5, with a starting price of $43,900.
For that low starting price, you get the Audi Q4 e-tron 40, which uses a single rear-mounted electric motor making 201 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. It’s not very quick, getting from 0-60 mph in 7.9 seconds but that shouldn’t bother most customers, especially Q5 customers who aren’t exactly speed demons. Interestingly, Audi hasn’t released official range figures for the Q4 e-tron 40 just yet.
If you want a power bump, you can opt for the Audi Q4 e-tron 50 Quattro, which gets two electric motors — making it all-wheel drive — making 295 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. It’s much quicker, hitting 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, which is hot-hatch quick. Audi does have range figures for the Q4 e-tron 50 Quattro, with an EPA-estimated range of 249 miles. For the Q4 e-tron 50 Quattro, the starting price bumps up to $49,900.
There’s also the sleeker Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback 50 Quattro, which is mechanically identical to the regular Q4 e-tron 50 Quattro, only it has a more aggressive roofline. Its power, performance, and range are all the same. However, its price isn’t, as it starts at $52,700. So you’re paying a few thousands dollars extra for some style.
All Audi Q4 e-tron models get the same 82 kWh battery pack and the same 125 kW max charging speed. Which means, with an equivalent 125 kW charger, all Q4 e-tron models can charge from 5-80 percent in 38 minutes. It isn’t nearly as quick as the Audi e-tron GT but the Q4 e-tron is also a less than half the price.
The standard Q4 e-tron Premium (40 and 50 Quattro) comes decently equipped as-standard. It gets 19″ wheels, Virtual Cockpit, and LED interior lighting. Bump up to the Premium Plus ($46,700) package and you get even more LED interior lighting, a heated steering wheel with regen paddles, a power tailgate, adaptive cruise control, and Audi Advanced Key. The Prestige ($56,200) package gets Audi MMI Navigation Plus, Virtual Cockpit Plus, Matrix LED headlights, a SONOS sound system, and a augmented reality head-up display.
Even the most loaded Audi e-tron 50 Quattro seems like a good value when compared to cars like the Audi Q5. While it might not be the best EV value, it should actually be a very compelling package for a lot of existing Audi customers, which is sort of the point. Audi Q5 customers will be able to afford a very well equipped Q4 e-tron, with better looks, a roomier cabin, and a higher-tech powertrain. It also comes with some unique tech features that the Q5 doesn’t get, such as the augmented reality HUD and the SONOS sound system.
