Carroll Shelby did not have a singular example of brilliance, of excellence, of performance – he had several. After all, performance was his business and, in the pursuit of performance, the team at Shelby American built some truly remarkable machines. As ardent admirers of Shelby’s work, the team at Barrett-Jackson is always delighted to see them make an impact on the auction block. At the 2021 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, 17 fine examples crossed the block, from fire-breathing icons to modern-day rockets – each with a rich history and each the very best of the breed. Headlined by Carroll Shelby’s personal 1966 427 Super Snake, they also included one of the finest ’65 GT350s in the world (from the personal collection of Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson) and an incredibly rare 1968 Shelby GT500KR convertible (one of 50), as well as the only fastback 1968 GT500 EFI prototype. This collection has it all, and shows how Shelby’s legacy lives on in some of the most collectible and sought-after American cars ever. Check out the gallery of these incredible machines below.
