Open Roads, February was the combined name of three collector car and memorabilia sales held together February 19-28 from the UK, Europe and the US by RM Sotheby’s Online Only division, which called the event its “first transcontinental auction.”
The auctions were even held in three currencies: euros, dollars and Swiss francs (CHF). Combined sales for the auctions were $11,152,675 with 76 percent of the lots sold with bidders from 41 countries. All results include auction fees.
The offerings closed for each sale over the last three days of bidding, with the first auction that closed, of consignments from the UK and Europe, reaching €3,328,600 ($4,006,330) in sales.
The second auction that closed was based in North America and resulted in a $3,236,075 total.
The third auction comprised a Swiss single-owner collection of seven rare Porsches, six of which sold for a total of CHF3,619,000 ($3,911,270).
The three highest-selling cars were from the Swiss Porsche Collection, a 2015 Porsche 918 Spider that went for CHF1,000,1000 ($1,078,307), a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT at CHF781,000 ($773,450) and a 1995 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet at CHF704,000 ($758,370). Six of the top-10 sales were from the Swiss Porsche auction.
While most of the vehicles sold during the three-way auction were European and UK sports cars, a number of American cars went to new owners during the North American segment. The highest sale for a US product was that of a 1968 Ford Shelby GT500 KR fastback, which reached $190,000.

7. 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS “Weissach” at CHF385,000 ($414,734)
9. 1968 Ferrari 330 GTC at €379,500 ($454,349)
10. 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic at CHF335,500 ($361,411)

RM Sotheby’s next auction will be Open Roads, March “presented in different currencies and locations throughout the globe” on the Online Only platform from March 19-26. The company’s next live auction takes place May 22 at Amelia Island, Florida.
