Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming videogame, which has been delayed several times, from studio CD Projekt Red that hopes to be an international blockbuster seller. The game features a main character modeled on and voiced by one Keanu Reeves, and the only real car from the actual game is this delightful aircooled Porsche 911 Turbo. In the game, which takes place 37 years into the future from right now, the 1977 Turbo will be exactly 100 years old and looking just as fine as it did when it was new, albeit updated with some tech and a special livery for the game.

Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand is a military veteran and lead man for a band called Samurai. The band broke up in 2008, but Johnny continued on as an anti-corporation rebel. At over 100 years old, Silverhand is part robot and drives a vintage Porsche presumably because it is equal parts fast and analog. Perhaps the vintage turbo is untraceable by modern electronics. We’ll have to wait until next month to figure out the full story, as the game will be released on the 19th.

The nearly-pristine 3.0L Turbo Carrera has been retrofitted with cameras and screens to replace the car’s flag-style door mirrors, and the front bumper has been fitted with a LiDAR. The original engine is retained, but the CIS fuel injection system has been updated to run on bio fuels. And the 915-derived four-speed manual is still there, but is no longer shifted manually. “The gearbox has been automated thanks to a controller that takes the original manual gearbox and allows the gears to fully change automatically. With this solution, the classic can also drive on the streets of Night City in autonomous mode,” CD Projekt Red’s Senior Vehicle Artist, Jakub Przybolewski told Roadshow.

The car has been given a tri-color livery with olive drab meant to signify Johnny’s time in the military, a red stripe inspired by his time in Samurai, and silver because his name is Silverhand, duh. Inside, the car has a gorgeous green leather interior, which is extremely accurate in its video game reconstruction, and a gaggle of screens semi-believably tacked on to the stock dashboard. Porsche painstakingly recreated this car in the flesh from a real 1977 911 Turbo Carrera, which will be on display at the Porsche museum in Stuttgart from October 15 to 22. If you want to see it first hand, get yourself over there ASAP!
