Chevrolet was chasing the resounding success of the Ford Mustang when it introduced the 1967 Camaro, a stylish rendition of what was to become known collectively as pony cars. So Chevy went huge with the introductory ads.
The Video of the Day looks at Camaro advertising from the very beginning (Apparently, the first Camaro was born in a live volcano. Who knew?) to the 1985 IROC-Z, with stops along the way to hype the SS, Belinetta and Rally Sport, and such of-the-era-features as T-tops.
For Camaro fans, this is a luscious look at how the GM division visualized its pony cars in action. And for everyone, it’s a glimpse of cultural history from an interesting period.
